The stores are currently in the in-between stage of transition, but you can still find all of your international favorites here, and then some! Do you need some Akamu (fermented Nigerian mixed-grain flour)? What about Mexican herbs, like Cola de Caballo (horsetail) or the mint relative Hierbabuena? Or a can of Jamaican Irish-moss drink? Beans from Naabeehó Bináhásdzo (the Navajo Nation)? These are just a few of the global delights awaiting you here. And of course, the market (under any name) still has a massive inventory of the Asian products it was previously known for. Jars of Mắm Cá Linh (preserved Vietnamese mud carp) compete with bottles of Téng Jiāo Yóu (Chinese rattan-pepper oil) and indeed Kimchi (Korean preserved vegetables). The snack aisles regale shoppers with the delights of Boy Bawang from the Philippines, Calbee from Japan, and the Thai branch of Lay's. In a recent article highlighting some cool spots for breakfast lunch and dinner along Havana, Pacific Ocean Marketplace was suggested to readers to check out for a peek at traditional Asian culture with the upmost flare. So after lunching just a few doors down, we popped in to see what the fuss was about! ++ Located on the corner of Havana and Mississippi, the marketplace is insanely huge, offers ample parking and easy to spot! ++ The entrance is filled with a few little shops that offer fresh teas and other before entering the massive marketplace - which is filled to the brim with everything you could ever imagine! Broken into two distinct regions - Japan and Korea - we were able to explore the vast options in an organized way! We walked through the various isles filled with grocery items, unique trinkets and live fish market which was super fun to see all the offerings! Seriously cool! ++ Staff is friendly, welcoming and eager to introduce guests to their specialties. We stopped by the Japanese market - and ended up getting a few unique items that we happily took home! Think cute chop sticks, traditional eye masks, Korean panko for frying and more! ++ Pricing is on point, and traditionally lower in price than local grocers for similar items! When in the area, I'll gladly return to this unique market! ”

“ I visit this place for my fresh fish and pork belly supplies! So many varieties of fresh fish - I wanted everything! This place is soooo good for Asian groceries! The kimchi I got from here was so good compared to the ones I've had before from chain groceries! I have fruits in my regular diet and I love the wide variety pacific marketplace has - fresh and juicy! Ps- I got the pompano fish from here- so fresh and amazing! They also provide fish cleaning services. Definitely recommend!! ”
